The Student-Athlete Guidance Services office provides a range of services to student-athletes on the 23 intercollegiate athletic teams which includes assistance with course and major selection as well as interpretation and clarification of eligibility rules. Student-athletes at UC Davis typically have a minimum of three academic advisors: an athletic academic advisor assigned by sport, a college advisor, and a major advisor (if the student has a declared major). Although appointments with the athletic academic advisors are not mandatory at UC Davis, student-athletes might choose to see their athletic academic advisor for issues that include:

balancing academic and athletic expectations
general education (GE) requirements
dropping/adding courses
time management/study skills
adjustment to UC Davis
assistance completing the required annual Academic Plan Form
study hall for student-athletes
personal issues that affect academic performance
choosing a major/career
declaring or changing a major
campus resources
maximizing the college experience, including exploration of opportunities beyond athletics
preparation for graduate programs
preparation and application for NCAA postgraduate scholarships

Both athletic academic advisors have walk-in hours (for quick questions of 10-15 minutes) on a first-come first-served basis as well as appointment time each day for the student-athletes' convenience. Appointments must be made at least one day in advance and are required for in-depth planning.

We encourage student-athletes to meet with their athletic academic advisor if they have any questions or need assistance.
